We are looking for patients to help in medical student training from ‘one off’ discussions through to being linked to a student for over a year to help them gain a deeper understanding of a health condition.
The longer (narrative medicine course) programme involves the student talking with you around 4-6 times over an 18-month period to find out what it is like to live with a long-term medical condition. Currently they ‘meet’ remotely via a video call (ideally on the team’s platform – they just email you a link). They would want to learn about your experience of healthcare, the problem, and its treatment from your perspective. They meet with a GP tutor at intervals and write an essay about what they have learned at the end of the course.
