Getting to your appointment
Your appointment will be at the Windrush Health Centre, Welch Way, Witney, OX28 6JS. Car parking at the practice is limited and we recommend being dropped off at the practice by a friend or relative if at all possible. If this is not possible, there is some parking available at the Hospital site (this is free for the first 30 minutes) or at Marriott’s multi-storey car park or in the Woodford Way car park (see the map below).
Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for your appointment. To comply with social distancing guidelines, we are limiting the number of patients in the building at one time. If you arrive early, you may be refused entry until 5 minutes before your appointment time.
What will happen on the day?
You will need to go up to the first floor (there will be a receptionist there to help you if you have not been to the practice before). You will then be taken into the vaccination room. A GP will talk you through the vaccination and answer any questions you may have (if you do have any concerns, it is best to let us know before the appointment, so that we can answer your questions beforehand). The nurse will then administer the vaccine and you will be given a card with a time on. This card shows the receptionist when you can leave the building.
You will be asked to head into the waiting room and join a queue so that we can make sure you do not have a reaction to the vaccination. Once your time is up, you will be allowed to leave.
There is a video available below about the common side effects associated with Pfizer:
Information about the eligible cohorts is available on the ‘Why you have to wait for your COVID-19 vaccine’ page on the Gov.uk site. This page also contains answers to some other frequently answered questions.
We would encourage you to read the information leaflet below, so that you can start thinking about whether you would like to receive the vaccine once you are called in:
